Routine Cleanings & Exams

During your biannual appointment, our team will conduct a thorough exam of your mouth, looking for any signs of gum inflammation or decay. During this exam, we’ll also perform an oral cancer screening to identify any pre-cancerous abnormalities or problem areas. We will then remove any built-up plaque and tartar while we clean and shine your teeth.

Fluoride Treatments

After your professional cleaning, we can apply a fluoride treatment to boost enamel strength and fight off bacteria that leads to cavities. Fluoride treatments don’t correct decay, but they do protect from future damage. Fluoride can be applied in a variety of ways including a brush-on paste or foam in a mouthpiece. Your specific treatment will be determined after your examination.

Sealants

Sealants work similarly to fluoride treatments in the sense that they protect from future decay. However, sealants actually cover and seal the tiny grooves in your teeth to prevent food debris and bacteria from building up over time. Patients of all ages benefit from sealants, but it is a common preventive measure taken when adult teeth first erupt.

Mouthguards and Nightguards

Athletic mouthguards are a great way to take precaution against dental emergencies. More often than we suspect, teeth can get broken or knocked out during physical activity. Wearing a mouthguard decreases these chances and can save you from an urgent situation. Similarly, mouthguards are a preventive measure taken to lessen the harm caused by grinding your teeth at night. Grinding your teeth can lead to tooth damage and recession. Visit our dentist near you so we can determine if you grind your teeth at night and what solution is best for you.
