What Are Dental Implants?

Dental implants are small, titanium posts secured to your jawbone. These posts act as tooth roots when you have lost your natural tooth. Dental implants can replace a single tooth, or be combined with dentures to replace multiple teeth. If taken care of properly, they can last 15 years or longer.

Dental Implant Process

During your first consultation, we will take X-Rays to thoroughly examine your jawbone and determine whether you’re a candidate for the procedure. For those whose jawbones are not ready for an implant, a bone graft may be performed to strengthen the bone. Next, the implants will be secured into the jawbone and given time to heal fully. Once healed, a connective structure, called an abutment, will be attached to the post. Then the dental crown, bridge, or denture will then be connected. Finally, it’ll be time for you to enjoy your new, beautiful smile!
