Does professional teeth whitening cause sensitivity?

If you know that you have very sensitive teeth, let our team know, and we can discuss your options with you at your consultation. The hydrogen peroxide is what usually increases tooth sensitivity, but your teeth should feel totally normal again after a few days. We recommend avoiding foods and drinks that are very cold and very hot after whitening treatments, as that can trigger tooth sensitivity, as can very sweet desserts. You may also want to try using a desensitizing toothpaste before and after your treatments.

How long does professional teeth whitening last?

The effects of tend to last longer than drugstore whitening products. You may start to notice your teeth looking less white after one to two years, but they will likely still look whiter than they did before treatment. Regularly consuming coffee, tea, red wine, and sodas tend to stain the teeth and make them look less white. If your teeth are no longer as white as you’d like them to be, just let us know, and we can schedule another in-office teeth whitening treatment or provide more whitening gel for your custom trays.
